Prof Daniel Marie Vaulot
Visiting Professor, Asian School of the Environment
|After attending the Ecole Polytechnique in Paris and working for a few years, I did a PhD with Penny Chisholm at MIT, Cambridge, USA, working on the cell cycle regulation of phytoplankton. Since 1985, I have been part of CNRS, working at the Station Biologique of Roscoff (France). I am focusing on the diversity and ecology of eukaryotic picophytoplankton, more specifically the green algae, but also of other groups like bolidophytes and haptophytes involved in symbioses with cyanobacteria. I am also the creator and scientific director of the Roscoff Culture Collection.|
|* Diversity and oceanic distribution of marine phytoplankton, in particular green algae and Bolidophyceae.|
* Analysis of marine eukaryotic communities using metabarcoding (nuclear 18S rRNA, plastid 16S rRN), especially on populations sorted by flow cytometry.
* Polar picoplankton communities and their adaptation to the long winter polar night.
* Development of databases for the analysis of eukaryotic metabarcodes: PR2
