Research subjects participating in NTU-IRB approved studies are covered under a university-wide insurance policy for bodily injuries sustained during the course of the research study.
Note that this insurance will only cover approved studies using the current HBRA consent form template, and will not cover studies using SBER consent forms (as these are for studies where there are no physical interventions and hence no likelihood of sustaining any bodily harm).
Within NORA, PIs are to select "Yes" for the question: "Is this project covered by insurance?", and state that this project is covered by NTU-wide insurance policy. PIs are required to use the HBRA consent form templates.
- This policy covers NTU-IRB approved studies conducted globally excluding USA/Canada.
- This policy will not cover claims arising from studies on (1) Children/Minors; (2) Pregnant women; (3) Implanted medical devices, (4) Birthing's. Clinical trials involving the use of certain drugs are also excluded. Studies focusing on these areas are required to obtain separate insurance cover.
- Participants who wish to file a claim should first contact the Principal Investigator of the study, who will then notify NTU-IRB of the claim details.
