Are you considered to be a Tissue Bank?

You are considered to be operating a Tissue Bank if you are conducting a structured and organised tissue banking activity involving human tissue for the purposes of facilitating current or future research, or for public health or epidemiological purposes. The tissue banking activities include any of the following: (a) the collection, storage, procurement or importation of human tissues; (b) the supply, provision, or export of human tissue.

This excludes anyone who are involved in tissue banking actitivty if it is solely for the purposes of the person’s/organisation’s own human biomedical research approved or exempted from review by an IRB.
