Israel Institute for Advanced Studies Call for Proposals

Published on : 03-Dec-2014

The Israel Institute for Advanced Studies (IIAS) is currently inviting applicants to submit to their call for proposals for Research Groups for 2016-2017.

Background

The Israel Institute for Advanced Studies (IIAS) of Jerusalem is a national institution devoted to academic research. Located at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, on the Edmond J. Safra campus at Givat Ram, the IIAS is a self-governing body, both in its administrative function as well as its academic pursuit.

The primary function of the Institute is to encourage and support collaborative research. It was founded in 1975 to provide a nurturing and stimulating academic environment, championing outstanding scholarly research in a wide range of disciplines. It brings together scholars from around the world to engage in collaborative research projects for periods of five and ten months. International collaboration is also fostered through the many conferences and Advanced Schools.

Each year the Institute hosts approximately 40 fellows. Fellows of the Institute are members of Collaborative Research Groups that convene for a period of up to ten months. In any given year the Institute hosts three to four Collaborative Research Groups, composed of scholars from Israel and abroad in comparatively equal proportions.
