  • ​​​​​Ageing Research Institute for Society and Education (ARISE)
    The Launched on 6 May 2016, ARISE is a pan-university institute that supports multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research at NTU focusing on ageing-related research, programmes and activities. ARISE’s vision, ‘Empowering the ageing community, Improving the quality of life’, corresponds to the Institute’s four research thrusts namely: (i) Ageing Medicine; (ii) Social Integration and Education; (iii) Ageing-in-Place; and (iv) Care & Lifestyle Enhancement. The outcomes of the research thrusts aim to lead to a healthy, active and engaged ageing community with reduced economic and social costs, through research, education and translational/implementation efforts.

  • ​Centre for Research and Development in Learning (CRADLE@NTU)
    The ​Centre for Research and Development in Learning (CRADLE) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) serves as an activity and technology incubator for researching and transforming learning in higher education. It aims to enhance learning by developing effective technologies, mindful learning environments, and motivating activity designs that are supported by empirical research. To achieve these ends, CRADLE@NTU engages with students, professionals, and the teaching community to identify research needs, support development opportunities, and diffuse research outcomes. 

  • Cyber Security Research Centre @ NTU (CYSREN)
    The Cyber Security Research Centre @ NTU (CYSREN) has been established to direct the University’s multi-disciplinary research and development capabilities towards cybersecurity, and to serve as a unified point of contact to represent NTU’s cyber security community. In particular, CYSREN will leverage on NTU’s core competencies in the various areas including Engineering, Exact Sciences, International Studies and Business. The current focus areas at CYSREN include Security by design, Cyber-threat detection and attack attribution, Cyber / Cyber-enabled Crime and Forensics and a holistic approach towards Cyber-security.

  • Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Research Centre @NTU (DSAIR)
    NTU is at the forefront of AI algorithms and data analytics, having developed pioneering technologies in advanced supercomputing data centres and complex decision-making algorithms to aid business processes. The Data Science and AI Research Centre (DSAIR) combines NTU’s deep expertise in AI and machine learning with big data analytics to pioneer new technologies. In Research, DSAIR rivals leading labs and aims to be a source of phenomenal AI capacity that advances a deeper understanding of the human’s neural and cognitive abilities for Enterprise and Society dependent outcomes. DSAIR is also a one stop solution center supporting pan-university efforts to uplift students and creates opportunities for them to work alongside engineers and data scientists from corporate labs to solve real world problems.
     
  • Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERIAN)
    The Energy Research Institute at NTU (ERIAN) will focus on the areas of sustainable energy, energy efficiency and infrastructure, and socio-economic aspects of energy research. Research activities and considerable expertise in these areas exists within NTU’s research centres and schools. ERIAN will provide a unique platform, where the various disciplines such as materials, power electronics and systems, biological, physical, social sciences, as well as humanities and business communities can interact to explore new solutions to a host of issues including energy generation, harnessing, storage, distribution, efficiency, as well as impact on climate change and global warming.
  • Institute for Media Innovation (IMI)
    The Institute for Media Innovation is formed within the symbiosis of Media Systems Research and Media Content Research to create Intelligent Media. The research in the Institute will focus on the mega-trends in interactive and digital media research today - 'next generation multimedia search', advanced 'intelligence' in media, autonomous virtual actors, innovative digital cinema and television, enhanced media technology and novel media formats.

  • Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute (NEWRI)
    Nanyang Technological University (NTU) reinforced its leadership position in environment and water technologies (EWT) when it officially launched the Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute (NEWRI). NEWRI is an ‘eco-system’ of research groups, centres and institutes which provides a contiguous value chain from education and research through translation, development and application. It unifies NTU’s EWT efforts and serves as a one-stop centre for industry and research partners to access NTU’s EWT capabilities.       
  • NTU Institute for Health Technologies (HealthTech NTU)
    NTU Institute for Health Technologies (HealthTech NTU) is an initiative of the Future Healthcare Peak of Excellence – one of the five strategic peaks defined in the NTU 2015 Strategic Plan. Building on NTU’s existing strengths in engineering and business, the goal of HealthTech NTU is to provide a cross-disciplinary platform for engineers, scientists and clinicians to work together and develop new technologies that provide solutions to important problems in human health and medicine. HealthTech NTU synergises the various biomedical and bioengineering-related research projects within CoE and CoS, as well as increases the interaction of these research groups with other Colleges and Schools in NTU, including Nanyang Business School, Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. HealthTech NTU is also geared up to collaborate with industrial partners as it strives to offer engineering-enabled solutions for medicine, health and healthcare in order to spur the creation and growth of the local medical device industry.

  • Nanyang Institute of Structural Biology (NISB)
    NISB is a new initiative that will serve to integrate Structural Biology research across NTU to address important questions in biology and human diseases. NISB aims to enhance the research capabilities at NTU by providing the appropriate infrastructure and equipment to enable the best research. NISB works closely with the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, School of Biological Sciences and SCELSE on strategic areas focusing on chromosomal biology & health, synthetic biology, metabolic & genetic Diseases, infectious diseases, neurobiology and drug discovery & design.

  • The NTU Complexity Institute
    The Complexity Institute at Nanyang Technological University is a center for transdisciplinary research and teaching on complexity and complex adaptive systems. We study how interactions within a system and its environment generate its dynamical patterns of behavior.

    The institute came into existence in April 2014, with the goal of becoming a global center for complexity research. Located in Singapore on the campus of Asia’s fastest rising young universities, the Institute is organized to facilitate transdisciplinary team-based science.
