New NTU biomarker for bioimaging and drug delivery

Published on : 20-Nov-2014

Scientists from NTU have invented a unique biomarker for cancer patients, which is able to detect tumour cells and treat the disease at the same time. Cancer patients will be able to benefit as the new biomarker taps near-infrared light - this prevents any damage to healthy cells as it uses less energy than visible light. The NTU team is working on loading multiple layers of drugs onto the marker. If successful, smaller doses can be administered to tumour cells more accurately.
