NTU and A*Star scientists create new super biomaterials

NTU collaborated with A*STAR to develop new biomaterials, such as one material generated from squid’s gene sequencing that is harder than conventional plastics, biodegradable and environmentally-friendly. Such new biomaterials can be used for a wide number of applications, even as parts for organ implants, as they are versatile. Apart from the squid sucker, NTU and A*STAR have come out of another two biomaterials, including a sticky underwater glue which is derived from mussels and an extremely elastic material from sea snails’ egg capsules.
