The Enhancing Care workshop is jointly organised by the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) will be held on 6 Feb 2013.

The aim of the workshop is to generate interest, focus and understand the needs in the Intermediate and Long Term Care (ILTC) sector.

Questions addressed at the workshop include:

·          The key issues faced by seniors ageing in their homes or in care facilities : mobility, independent grooming etc

·          Difficulties faced by their caregivers : strain when lifting patients, lack of activities to engage seniors socially and mentally etc

·          Solutions already available out there for them: patient hoists, bathing machines, rehabilitative gaming, various therapeutic activities etc

·          Areas where innovative solutions can be relevantly applied

In addressing these questions, we hope to spur the development of research areas to provide a solution to the needs in the ILTC sector.

The workshop will involve a presentation on sector needs by AIC, sharing by NTU on relevant areas of research, followed by smaller discussions to ideate new applications.

Ideas generated will then be followed through with post-workshop participation in online ‘Google chat groups’ to gather sector inputs, and a second workshop (May/Jun) with participation from sector players (nursing homes, rehabilitation centres etc) to validate project concepts.

Details of the workshop are as follows:
