Congratulation to Prof Loh for winning the Nanyang Award (Research & Innovation Category) 2007!

Trained by Nobel Laureate EJ Corey, Prof Loh is an internationally renowned organic synthesis chemist. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the prestigious Chemistry Communications, and coordinator of “Asia Core Program”. His research focus is to develop new synthesis methodology and its applications in the synthesis of natural products. In particular, he is interested in Green chemistry, where chemical reactions can be carried out in water or ionic liquids solvents or even under solvent-free conditions. Prof Loh has more than 137 journal papers, 94 conference papers and 5 book chapters. He has also won several prestigious awards in the past and has delivered plenary lectures and invited talks at numerous international conferences. His Hirsch-index is 34, with more than 3400 citations and highest single paper citation of 175. Since joining NTU in February 2005, he has published 27 papers (including two papers in Journal of the American Chemical Society) and two book chapters. Prof Loh’s work on new synthesis strategy, enantioselective reactions and total synthesis of natural products has also made major impact internationally.
