| Biography |
Dr. Hao Song received his B.S. in Chemistry from Nankai University, and his Ph.D. in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering from the University of Houston. Before joining in NTU on Nov. 2009, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Texas, and a research associate at Duke University. His research interests are on the synthetic biology, systems & computational biology, and bioreactors and process engineering, focusing on microbial production of chemicals (including commodity chemicals & materials, functional foods and drugs) and environmental biotechnology. He has published over 40 research papers and reviews in top academic journals, including Nature Chemical Biology, Molecular Systems Biology, ACS Chemical Biology, Applied & Environmental Microbiology, Biophysical Journal, and AIChE Journal, etc. Dr. Song is a member of American Institute for Chemical Engineers (AIChE).

| Research Interests |
My research interests are on the synthetic biology & metabolic engineering, systems biology and bioreactors modeling and optimization, aiming at production of chemicals (including commodity chemicals/materials, drugs and functional foods) by engineered microorganisms, and environmental biotechnology. Specifically,
● Genetic engineering microbes and microbial ecosystems for bioelectrochemical systems; ● Electrofuels: Biological recycling of CO2 to biofuels by microbial electrosynthesis ● Genome-scale modeling and engineering gene circuits for metabolic pathway engineering; ● Systems and computational biology. |
