Biography
Quan Liu received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Xidian University, Xi’an, P.R.China, the M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Graduate School in Beijing, University of Science and Technology of China and the PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He is currently an assistant professor in the School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. Before that he was a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Tuan Vo-Dinh’s group in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Duke University. He won the Scholarship in Optical Science and Engineering in 2002 from the International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE). Dr. Liu has published more than ten academic papers in peer-reviewed journals and held five US patents in the field of biophotonics. He has been a reviewer for several top optics journals such as Optics Letters and Journal of Biomedical Optics and grant proposals. He has attracted external research funding equivalent to one million US dollars to support his group. His research interests focus on exploring the power of optical imaging and spectroscopy in medical diagnostics and biological science research. Dr. Liu is a senior member of the International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE), a member of the Optical Society of America (OSA) and the Institute of Electric and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
