Biography
Dr. Li received a BEng in mechanical engineering (1999) and an MEng in materials processing engineering (2001) from Tsinghua University. After a period in industry, he studied for a PhD in materials science at Imperial College London in 2003-2006. During his PhD, he was also a visiting scholar at the University of British Columbia sponsored by the Royal Academy of Engineering (2004 & 2005). Upon completion of his PhD, he conducted his postdoctoral research in Solid Mechanics and Materials Engineering Group of the University of Oxford in 2007-2010. He then joined NTU as an Assistant Professor in 2010.
Research Interests
Dr. Li’s research focuses on improving our understanding of the process-structure-mechanical property relationship of materials. The main strategy is the use of combined advanced experimental characterisation and multiscale material modelling techniques. Application includes lightweight metals, porous materials, composites and thermal barrier coatings for automotive, aerospace and defence sectors.
