Biography
Prof Ng Siu Choon is currently in the School of Chemical & Biomedical Engineering since 2005. He studied Chemistry at the University of Oxford in the UK, on a Singapore Government Overseas Merit Scholarship and was also an Oxford Open Scholar from 1980 to 1984. Thereafter, after receipt of a Bachelor’s Degree with First Class Honours, he embarked on graduate research work at Oxford and gained a Doctorate in 1987.

His research interests include aspects of functional materials, chiral enabling technology and nanotechnology. He has done significant research work in his research areas and published over 200 top quality international conference and journal papers. Published papers have garnered more than 2000 citations with an H-Index of 25. Over the years in local academia, Prof Ng has supervised or actively supervising 28 Doctoral and 19 Masters Dissertation projects. He has been often invited as a reviewer for a number of premier chemical and materials related journals, including Electrophoresis, Journal of Chromatography A, Macromolecules etc.

Prof Ng is currently holding appointment as Head, Division of Chemical & Bimolecular Engineering. He has also previously served as Associate Dean (Administration) in the College of Engineering from April 2005 to June 2007.
Research Interests
Prof Ng's research work has, over the years, been focused on two main areas:

(1) Functional and Conjugated Polymers which entails Molecular Design of Novel Materials for Polymer/Molecular Electronic Devices and other specialized applications (such as Antifouling, Antistatic Coatings)

(2) Chiral Separation Materials which are amenable for Analytical to Process Scale Resolution of Racemic Drugs and Fine Chemicals. Recent research work has included development of chiral nanosilica particulates for enhanced analytical applications/ processes.
