Biography
Professor Wu Mao See has been with the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in NTU since 2001. He received a B.Sc. (Hons) degree from University College London, and an S.M. degree and Ph.D. degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His research interests are primary on mechanics and materials issues in nanoscience and nanotechnology. More recently, he has initiated work in the mechanics of biomaterials. He has published over fifty peer-reviewed papers, with recent publications in the area of defects in nanowires and multilayered composites. Professor Wu has also been involved with the international mechanics community, serving as reviewer of journal papers and research proposals, guest editor of special journal volumes, chairperson of conferences and organizer of symposia. He is currently a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Academy of Mechanics, and Society of Engineering Science.
Research Interests
Professor Wu Mao See's research interests are in the broad areas of mechanics and materials, specifically the mechanics and computational simulation of defects in nanomaterials. His recent publications include such topics as dislocations, disclinations and cracks in nanowires, nanofilms and nanocomposites. He has recently taken an interest in the nonlinear mechanics of biomaterials. Professor Wu also has active collaborations with researchers in France and Russia.
