Biography
Professor David Butler is currently based in the School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering since 1999 in addition he holds a joint appointment as a Senior Scientist with the Agency for Science Technology & Research (A*STAR). He recieved he Bachelor Degree in Manufacturing Engineering & Economics, Master of Science in Quality Systems and PhD in Engineering Metrology from the University of Birmingham (UK). His research interests include ultra precision machining processes,surface metrology and nanomanufacturing technologies. His research has attracted funding from Government and Industry and has resulted in over 80 conference and journal papers as well as several invention disclosures.
Research Interests
Prof Butler's area of expertise are surface metrology, machining processes and novel removal processes.
His current research focuses on electrokinetic removal, the application of diatoms for nanotechnology and ultraprecision grinding.
