Biography
Prof Martyn Partridge holds the position of Professor of Respiratory Medicine at Imperial College London in addition to his role as Senior Vice-Dean at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. Prof Partridge is Deputy Director of Education and chairs the Clinical Years’ Sub-committee of the Undergraduate Education Committee at Imperial College. He is past President of the British Thoracic Society (BTS), previous Chief Medical Adviser to Asthma UK, currently chairs the UK Department of Health Asthma Steering Group and is on the Department of Health Respiratory Programme Board.

Prof Partridge’s early work focused on chemotherapy for lung cancer and the study of the site of airflow limitation in asthma. His more recent research has concentrated upon evaluating the delivery of healthcare to those with respiratory illnesses, including the evaluation of service enhancements such as telephone consultations, the use of lay educators, electronic asthma and COPD action plans, and methods of enhancing communication between both patients and doctors, and specialists and GPs. He has a particular interest in the subject of health literacy and in simplifying information materials and questionnaires (such as the Epworth score) to enhance widespread comprehension.

In 2010 he was named one of the top five Chest Physicians in the UK in the Times Top Doctors list and he has now published over 200 Peer reviewed scientific papers, numerous book chapters and an undergraduate textbook on Respiratory Medicine.
Research Interests
