Biography
Jaymz is a filmmaker and Assistant Professor of Film at the School of Art, Design & Media, Nanyang Technological University. He has extensive experience in producing, writing and directing independent films, documentaries and television around UK, Europe and Asia. Often taking on multiple roles - writing, directing, editing, sound design and cinematography - in a production, Jaymz is an all-in-one filmmaking machine. His practice spans across an extensive spectrum, from art-house filmmaking to commercial work. Jaymz implements formalistic and comparative language in his work. His films uniquely explore psychological and emotional conscious and unconscious of the human condition, twisting and turning them into surreal narratives with a dark, tragicomic nature.

Jaymz has won many awards and accolades internationally, notably the Audience Award at the Festival International du Court Métrage Clermont-Ferrand, France, 2004; the Jury Prize at Brief Encounters, UK, 2004; Best Film and Audience Award at L’Alternativa Barcelona Independent Film Festival, Spain, 2002; Best Film, Best Screenplay and Best Director at the Dali Universe International Film Festival, UK, 2002; Best Editing and Best Sound Design at the Miami International Film Festival, USA, 2003; as well as, a BAFTA nomination for Best Short Film in 2002 and a BBC Young Talents Award in 2002.

Graduated with an MA in Fiction Direction (awarded by Royal College of Art, UK) from The National Film & Television School in 2006, Jaymz is also a recipient of the MES scholarship from MDA. He is currently mentored by Lynda Myles (former Senior Vice-President of Columbia Pictures and award-winning film producer) and Nik Powell (co-founder of the Virgin Group, film producer and co-founder of Scala Productions).
