| Biography |
| Prof Genaro Castro-Vázquez is currently in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. He received his Bachelor degree in Education from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Master and Ph.D. degrees from El Colegio de México and The University of Tsukuba respectively. In addition, he conducted post-doctoral studies at Keio University supported by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. His research interests include Japanese studies, sociology of health and education. He has done significant research in his areas of expertise and published In the shadows: Sexuality, Gender and Pedagogy among Japanese Teenagers. Lanham, Maryland: Lexington Books, in 2007. Moreover, his research has been reported in quality international conference and peer-reviewed journal papers. He has been invited as referee and reviewer for a number of premier conferences and journals, including Body & Society and the 7th International Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific, Kobe, Japan. |

| Prof Genaro Castro-Vázquez areas of expertise are sociology of health, reproductive health matters, HIV/AIDS, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, sociology of education and education and migration. His current research works focus on the education for foreign children from Latin American in Japan, HIV/AIDS and disability in Japan and male circumcision and HIV/AIDS. |
