Biography
Dr Tan graduated with a PhD in Economics/International Finance from Arizona State University. He has been involved with NBS’s China Programs for many years. Prior to this current appointment as Associate Dean, he was assistant director for EMBA (Chinese) program for 2 years and director for MSc (Finance) program for 3 years. Dr Tan’s research areas include risk management, derivatives, market microstructure, merger and acquisition, international finance, private equity and fixed income. His works have been appeared in international refreed journals such as Journal of Banking and Finance, Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, Oxford Economic Review, Review of Pacific Basin Financial Markets and Policies, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions and Money. Dr Tan is also an active participant in the financial market. He had provided consulting services to DBS’s DBS Family of Bond Indices, ADB’s bond market review, OCBC’s personal financial planning model and DBS’s foreign exchange forecasting (DBS). From 2004 to 2006, he was appointed as a member of the Singapore Commercial Affairs Department Panel of Experts on Securities Offences for one year. He is also widely involved in executive training programs both at home and China, including DHL, Standard Chartered Bank, DBS Asset Management, ACI Singapore, UBS, Minsheng Bank, Citic Bank, China Construction Bank, etc.
