Biography
Dr. Soh Star joined the Division of Strategy, Management and Organisation, and the Center for Leadership and Cultural Intelligence in 2008. He is also an affiliated faculty member of SAF-NTU Academy since 2010.

His previous appointment was the Chief Psychologist of the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and Head of the Applied Behavioural Sciences Department. His responsibilities included strategic planning, management and professional supervision to deliver a suite of behavioural science services (e.g., selection systems, organisation climate surveys, organisation development, psychological preparation for operations, research) to MINDEF and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). He initiated and presented numerous study reports on human resource issues to executive management in MINDEF/SAF, and conducted lectures and workshops on leadership, leadership development, team development, psychology and statistics.

Under MINDEF's scholarships, Dr. Soh Star obtained his B.Sc. (1st class honours) in Psychology from Manchester, U.K. and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Industrial-Organisational Psychology from the Ohio State University, U.S.A. He also has a Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management from the Singapore Institute of Management, Singapore.

Dr. Soh Star has publications in peer-reviewed academic journals and military journals, and frequently presented in conferences. In 2005, he was the chairman of the International Military Testing Association Conference. In 2011, he and his co-authors published a book on "Military Leadership in the 21st Century: Science and Practice". He is an ad hoc reviewer for Management and Organization Review and Cross-Cultural Management: An International Journal. He is an international member of the American Psychological Association, Society for Industrial and Organisational Psychology, and Society for Military Psychology.

Dr. Soh Star has taught and teaches post-graduate (e.g., Structural Equation Modeling, Cross-Cultural Psychology, and Leadership) and undergraduate (e.g., Leadership and Organisation Behaviour) courses in NTU. He also speaks at seminars, conducts leadership development workshops and provides consultancy services to organisations.
