|Ho Hiang Kwee first joined NTU (then NTI) in 1983, after working for several years as a marine engineer in the shipping sector, and serving full-time National Service. He received his BSc (Hons) degree from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, and his Master of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. From 2007 to 2010, he served on a joint appointment with the Agency of Science, Technology & Research(A*STAR), as their Program Director (Energy Technology R&D) and Centre Director, Experimental Power Grid Centre (previously SINERGY Centre). In 2010, he left NTU to become Director (Urban Solutions) at the DNV Clean Technology Centre. In 2012, he joined the civil service as Lead Technologist in the National Climate Change Secretariat (NCCS), Prime Minister's Office, while concurrently holding Adjunct research positions at the Energy Studies Institute, National University of Singapore (2011 - 2015) and at the Energy Research Institute@NTU (2015 to April 2017). In October 2017, he took up an Adjunct Associate Professor appointment at the School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering.|
His technical interests and work in both government and academia are in sustainable energy and climate change mitigation technologies and systems, including conventional power generation technologies, fuel cells, and integrated energy systems; and in computer based modeling, analysis, design, monitoring and management of thermal and energy systems.
