Biography
Received BSc degree in 1995, and a MSc in 1998 from Aeronautical Engineering, Cairo University, Egypt. MSc degree awarded in the development of a CFD model to simulate complex flows indoors. Received second MSc in 2000 and PhD in 2002 from the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, USA. Work was related to the development of non-reflecting boundary conditions and the computation of sound scattering generated by rotor stator interaction noise in large bypass turbofan engines.
During post-doctoral training I participated in projects related to indoor air modeling using reduced order models and testing novel LBM. Work also led to the development of particulate transport model to a model particulate levitation during human activity. Worked with the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Science to initiate weather simulation using CFD and incorporate satellite data. During a year sabbatical in the US, worked on active flow control and jet noise. Recently managed a research project to develop a smart wing using a novel patented smart slat approach. Last but not least, working with several groups in the development of wind turbine blades suitable for operation in Egypt.
Currently focusing research on active flow control with application to unmanned aerial vehicles. Also extending the work to examine benefit of research for remotely operated vehicles.
