Ms Yang Mei Ling
Senior Lecturer, College of Business (Nanyang Business School) - Division of Leadership, Management & Organisation
|YANG Mei Ling is a senior lecturer at the Nanyang Business School, and heads the Communication Management team within the SMO Division. Besides teaching business and managerial communication strategies and skills to NBS students, Mei Ling is actively involved in training consultancy work with industry partners.|
Prior to joining NTU in 2006, Mei Ling held a wide range of portfolios in her 20 years in both the private and public sector. Her wide-ranging industry experience covers journalism, corporate communications, research, training and customer relations.
Professional writing has been a key feature throughout Mei Ling’s career. After a stint as a journalist with The Straits Times, Mei Ling joined the Ministry of Defence as a Political Research Analyst before embarking on a career in corporate communications with Singapore Airlines. Thereafter, her portfolio was enlarged to include key stints in service quality, staff development and customer relations.
Mei Ling headed the Corporate Communications Department in one of Singapore’s largest retail chain. On top of being responsible for the Group’s corporate communication strategy and media relations, Mei Ling was also in charge of the company’s Customer Relations Department.
Prior to this appointment, she was responsible for monitoring global service quality for Singapore Airlines’ (SIA) world-wide network, as well as managing customer relations matters. Mei Ling supervised the customer service training team under SIA’s commercial training division, and was also actively involved in the design, development and delivery of a suite of training programmes.
Apart from active involvement in the training and development of SIA staff in various parts of the world, Mei Ling has extensive corporate consultancy and training experience with MNCs such as DBS Bank, OCBC Bank, ANZ Bank, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, CapitaLand, CapitaCommercial Trust, Ascott International, SIA Engineering Company and Sentosa Development Corporation.
|Yang Mei Ling's research interests are mainly in the areas of consumer communications, particularly in written communication with customers and customer complaint behaviour.|
