Biography
Dr. LiHui CHEN received her PhD degree in Computational Science at University of St. Andrews, UK in 1992 and the BEng degree in Computer Science & Engineering at Zhejiang University, China in 1982. She worked as a software engineer in a computer software firm for 6 years before pursuing her PhD degree. After obtaining the PhD, she has been working as a faculty member at Nanyang Technological University since 1993, where she is currently a tenured Associate Professor in the School of Electrical Electronic Engineering, Division of Information Engineering.

Dr. Chen’s research interests include machine learning algorithms/soft computing (fuzzy logic and neural networks) with applications to data mining, web intelligence, image processing and pattern recognition. She has been actively working in those areas for many years on projects at various levels. Currently her research focus is on some basic researches in data mining as well as its applications which may have significance in information search and retrieval on Internet. She is an author or co-author of over seventy reputable international journals and conference proceedings. She actively contributes and participates in many professional activities. She currently is a senior member of the IEEE, serves as the committee member of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Standards Committee, reviewers for several international journals & as a Program Committee/Session Chairman/Reviewers for international conferences, the Associate Editor for Institution of Engineers Singapore IES Journal –B: Intelligent Devices and Systems.
