His name has appeared in Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering (since 2003). He has refereed papers in top international journals in Operations Management and Supply Chain Management Dr. Bhatnagar obtained AStar-SMA and MOE funding in excess of $1,150,000 as Principal Investigator since 2000. He has obtained funding in excess of $130,000 from sources such as MOE, AcRF Tier 1, ASEAN-EC Management Center as Co-Principal Investigator. He has supervised 4 Phd students, 3 of whom have graduated. Two Phd students supervised by him are currently Assistant Professors in NTU and SMU respectively. He has also supervised 5 Research Fellows over the previous years. His research has been published in collaboration with faculty from Sloan School of Management Massachusetts University of Technology, USA, University of South Carolina, USA, Monash University, Australia, Concordia University, Canada, Singapore Management University, and Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, India. At NBS, Dr. Bhatnagar has taught a wide variety of courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels including Quantitative Methods, Managing Business Operations, Managing SME Operations (EMBA Course), and Data Modeling and Operations Management among others. He has introduced web based games as pedagogical tools in the above courses which significantly enhanced the learning for the participants. Since 2000, he has taught in the Singapore-MIT Alliance (SMA) Program jointly with faculty from Sloan School, MIT and NTU’s School of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering. He has also taught several courses for companies and programs such as MINDEF, DuPont, Jardine Shipping, CIT-NTU LPD Program, SPC and BI-NTU.

Dr. Bhatnagar was an Assessor for the MAXA Award, 2006-2009 and an Assessor for Singapore Quality Award, 1996-1998.
Research Interests
Dr. Bhatnagar’s research encompasses two broad areas (1) Supply Chain Planning and Design with focus on third party logistics services providers, and (2) Planning and Design of Manufacturing Systems with focus on production and inventory planning within a multi-plant context.

His work in the first area – supply chain planning and design with focus on third party logistics services providers – has evolved as part of his agenda to conduct research in collaboration with the local industry. He has specifically sought collaborative tie-ups with Singapore based companies such as YCH Logistics, Hewlett-Packard, UPS, Motorola, Caterpillar Logistics, DHL and Dell Computers among others. His work in the second area – planning and design of manufacturing systems within a multi-plant context – was initially inspired by his doctoral training and later reinforced by his tie-ups with Singapore based manufacturing firms such as Apple Computers and Keppel-Fels. Since his research work has been carried out in rich real-life contexts, and in close collaboration with the local logistics and manufacturing industry, many of the research findings and insights have been shared and implemented in these firms. This is a significant impact of his research. Another important impact has been the development of robust analytical research methods with broad applications in real life settings.
