Assoc Prof Ang Beng Wee, Steven

Associate Professor at the Nanyang Business School, NTU; Advocate & Solicitor (Singapore). Education: LL.B (Hons) from NUS; LL.M (Intellectual Property) from University of London, Queen Mary College. Faculty of the Nanyang Business School, NTU, since 1992. Teaching subjects: these include Employment Law and Management of Intellectual Property & Innovation. Past awards & positions: a recipient in 1999 of a Fulbright Visiting Scholar grant (at NYU School of Law); Editor of the Asia Business Law Review from May 1998 to April 2001. Publications: include the chapter on “Intellectual Property” in Law of Rights & Obligations of Business in Singapore (George Shenoy (ed.)1996), “The Idea-Expression Dichotomy and Merger Doctrine in the Copyright Laws of the U.S. and the U.K.” International Journal of Law and Information Technology (UK) Vol. 2 No. 2., 1994, pp. 111 – 153; more recently, publications in the field of intellectual property include, “Patent Term Extensions in Singapore for ‘Pharmaceutical Products’” [2005] EIPR 349 – 358.
Research Interests
Present research and writing involvements: is in the intersection between ethics and intellectual property; and, co-writing a text on the employment law of Singapore.
